Protostellar: Impact

You're a tiny asteroid with a big appetite, adrift in a field of planetary bodies. Consume anything smaller than you to grow — but collide with anything bigger and you're out of the round. Gravity complicates everything, constantly tugging you off course and toward the giants, so every approach is a fight between where you aim and where physics drags you. Inspired by a mix of agar.io and Spore's first phase, it's easy to pick up and tense to master: eat, grow, survive. The last asteroid still alive wins.

Fight Gravity

Use your phone to steer your asteroid through the field. Gravity tugs you toward every planetary body, so plan your approach before it plans it for you.

Eat Smaller Bodies

Fly into planetary bodies smaller than you to consume them and grow. The bigger you get, the bigger the targets on your menu.

Dodge the Giants

Touch a planet bigger than you and you're out for the round. Outlast everyone — the last asteroid still alive wins!

Who made Protostellar: Impact?

Protostellar: Impact was created by Jens and Katja of GameLoom Studio, and it's the first third-party game on Gaming Couch. It began as a seven-day game jam project in 2023 and was later brought to the platform with the Gaming Couch developer tools. Under the hood it's written in C++ and compiled for the browser with Emscripten.

Is Protostellar: Impact like agar.io?

It's inspired by a mix of agar.io and the first phase of Spore, set in a casual space theme: start tiny, eat what you can, dodge what you can't — with gravity keeping every approach interesting.
