The Gaming Couch team on stage accepting 2nd place at The Very Big Indie Pitch in Helsinki

We took 2nd place at The Very Big Indie Pitch during Pocket Gamer Connects Helsinki, and we're still buzzing about it a few days later.

We'd been gearing up for this event for weeks: booking travel, prepping the pitch deck, and making sure the build we'd show off actually behaved on unfamiliar Wi-Fi in a crowded conference hall. None of that guarantees anything on the day, so watching it pay off in front of a room of judges and other studios felt genuinely great.

The Pitch and the Booth

The competition itself was a fast, high-pressure format: a short window to explain what Gaming Couch is and why it matters, in front of judges who see dozens of pitches a day and don't have patience for fluff. Coming out of that with 2nd place was a strong signal that the idea lands even with people who've heard every pitch under the sun.

The booth was just as valuable as the stage. We had a steady stream of attendees stopping by to play a few rounds, phones out, scanning QR codes, and getting straight into it with strangers standing next to them. Watching people who'd never heard of Gaming Couch understand the whole idea within seconds, purely from playing, is the best kind of validation we can get.

Conversations That Matter

Beyond the pitch and the booth traffic, the real value of an event like this is the conversations that happen in between. We talked with other studios, potential partners, and people who work in exactly the kind of local multiplayer space we're building for. A few of those conversations are still ongoing, and we're looking forward to seeing where they go.

Thank You

To everyone who stopped by the booth, played a round, or asked a hard question during the pitch: thank you. Feedback from moments like this shapes the roadmap more than any internal planning meeting does.

If you want to see what all the pitching was about, browse the games and grab a few friends. It plays exactly the same at home as it did on that conference floor: open a browser, scan a code, and go.
